Hey everyone hope all is well 🙂 Just going to give y’all a recap of my 3-day cleanse I just finished yesterday! This was a DIY cleanse. I went and got the veggies and fruits from the local farmers market and searched online for juicing recipes. I have a juicer so i was able to do this at home! I juiced everything and stored it in mason jars in the fridge so that it was all ready to go for the next 3 days. I had 4 juices per day…morning, lunch, afternoon, and evening.
Morning juice
- 6 stalks of celery
- 1 cucumber
- 2 large green apples
- 3-4 massive leaves of kale
- 3-4 massive leaves of romaine
- handful of spinach
- small handful of parsley
- 1 lemon
Lunch juice
- 1/3 of a pineapple
- 2 large green apples
- a few pinches of mint (not too much or it will over power the other flavors)
Afternoon Juice
- 16 oz. water
- 3-4 juiced lemons
- few dashes of cayenne
- 1 tablespoon of agave
Dinner Juice
- 2 large green apples
- 2 beets
- 3 large carrots
- 1.5 tablespoon of ginger
- 1 lemon
Desert
- almond milk/ or cashew milk
- honey
- cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
The cost of the veggies and fruits was approximately $60 which is about half the cost of what you will pay for a cleanse through a distributor or store.
All of the juices were pretty good except for the afternoon juice. I drank it the first day but after that I just did lemon water at that time. I also did not drink the desert. I don’t like anything that tastes like milk so I opted out of that. During the daytime of the cleanse it was not bad until about 5 o’clock hit everyday. My stomach started to growl so I had my dinner juice and shortly after went and brushed my teeth lol. I always brush my teeth if I’m feeling the need to eat something when I don’t need to eat anymore. On the second night I did have a bowl of fruit. If you decide to cleanse and need something with more consistency either eat fruit or make a smoothie. Throughout the cleanse I noticed some side affects from detoxing my body. My skin got very oily. This is normal because the toxins are literally seeping out through your pores, gross but cool. I did get severe headaches at the end of the day. Which again is normal. Its almost like if you were detoxing from alcohol or drugs. Your body is so used to a certain way that when you stray from that you get certain side affects. I did notice by the third day my starvation feeling had really subsided due to my body balancing everything out. Now some of you wonder why in the world would you do this to yourself?
Cleansing/ fasting and other forms of detoxification are amazing for the human body. People used to fast all the time back in the day and some religions and cultures still do. It helps promote weight loss, balances out your hormones, you get more energy due to cutting out all of the sugar, caffeine, saturated fats etc. and you are replacing them with nourishing, vitamin rich veggies and fruits. You also build up your immune system by giving your organs time to re-boost and function properly. It helps with anti-aging, skin, hair and clearer thinking. I did not do this cleanse to lose weight. I am actually very satisfied with my current weight and health. But detoxing every 6 months to a year promotes short term and long-term health. I will stress to all of my readers that doing a detox to lose weight is a great way to jump start your year and get your health on the right track, but with that being saids, going back to an un healthy diet after a detox almost defeats the purpose of doing one. The weight will come right back on, if not even more than before and you will just fill your body with the toxins you just spent time flushing out!
I always try and stress to my clients that the plus of being healthy is losing weight! But try to have the mindset of becoming healthy first and the weight will come off with that mindset change. I have seen time and time again especially in women the , “I need to lose weight” or “I want to be this weight”. While having this goal is not a bad thing, it often leaves people discouraged if they don’t see the progress as quickly they wanted or don’t see that number as low as they wanted on the scale! This causes people to stress and eventually give up. Health and weight loss is a long distance run not a sprint! It takes not just a cleanse or working out for a month to make happen it takes a year or sometimes years to get to where you want to be!
Mentally, during the cleanse is the hardest! With any diet change your mind has to be right. 100% of your eating habits is on you! YOU control it. There where times when I was cooking my husband dinner or making my girls lunch that I wanted so badly to take a bite, but I didn’t because I said I was going to do something and I am going to do it 110%! I want you all to take this mentality into your day and say I AM WORTH IT! You are stronger than you think you are 🙂 If y’all have any questions about my cleanse or anything please feel free to comment or message! Heres to a happier and healthier you:)
Sending you out all my love today and hope ya’ll have a great weekend 🙂
xoxo
